Lazarus, To raise from the dead…
The Lazarus Project. (2008) Starring Paul Walker & Piper Perabo. The Lazarus Project is a story about Ben Garvey, (Paul Walker) an ex-con who is just about to be released from his parole, while he resides back home after a few year stint at prison with his beautiful wife (Piper Perabo) and daughter. Ben thinks he is going into work for a promotion when he finds out that he is being let go from his position because of a background check from his corporate office. Truly bummed, Ben takes his criminal brother up on an offer he can’t refuse. What should have been an easy heist turns out to be murderous and lands Ben back in a Texas slammer and on Death Row. Very quickly, he must say goodbye to his loved ones and be put to rest…or his he?
I have to admit, my interest in seeing this film was based solely on the shallow part of me that finds Paul Walker uniquely attractive. His babyface and overly photo-shopped blue eyes are plastered on the cover. It’s kind of like my affinity for only being able to choose boxed hair dye by what the chick looks like whose photo is posted on the front of it. If she’s pretty, than I guess I will be afterward, right? And if Paul Walker is pretty, than I guess the flick will be a good one, right? Nope. Not really.
So if this movie had a drug problem it would be perfect. Preferably speed. The Lazarus Project was a tad slow, and a bit confusing. However, the idea was nice. If the film had lived up to its intense storyline it could have been something special. The ending would have meant alot more and I wouldn’t have to be watching it again to try and figure out where it went wrong the first time.
I really don’t suggest watching this unless you have a lot of free time on your hands or if you just want to be shallow and watch it because Paul and Piper are pretty. Miss Perabo is a decent actress and the five seconds that she was in the flick basically made it. Check it out if you must but it wasn’t at all Mucktacular. Blah.
